We all want to make a quick buck. Who doesn’t dream of checking a few websites and apps every day and making €100 on the side? Spoiler: that’s bullshit. Don’t expect me to show you websites/apps in this blog that will make you a millionaire and financially free person from 0 to 100. That would be wonderful, but unfortunately our world doesn’t work like that. Nevertheless, I want to show you a few websites/apps that you can use to earn at least a little extra money.
Let’s get started:
1. Fiverr
First of all, we come to a competitive market: freelancing. This is where you offer your services and get paid for them. However, this market is now very competitive as there are many competitors.
Nevertheless, this website can give you financial freedom if you market your services skillfully and establish yourself as an expert
2. Udemy/Skillshare
Here you can market your own online courses and make some serious money. Once uploaded, your courses can provide you with a decent passive income. Are you an expert in online marketing? Perfect, then you can offer a course here that creates good added value and earn a tidy sum in return
3. YouTube
If you have useful content ideas that appeal to a large target group, then open your own YouTube channel and benefit from YouTube advertising revenue. However, the hurdle to getting paid is very high.
4. TikTok/Instagram/X/…
As an alternative to YouTube, you can now also earn money on TikTok with advertising revenue (but to a lesser extent). On Instagram and Co, for example, you can set up large theme pages and charge money for a shootout or sell products (via affiliate marketing or dropshipping)
5. Shopify
If you’ve always dreamed of having your own online store or have always wanted to try dropshipping, then Shopify is the right partner for you!
6. Amazon Affiliate
If you’ve always wanted to try affiliate marketing, then you can try it with Amazon products. Since Amazon is generally considered legit, it is very likely that people will buy here (but the commissions are not as high)
7. online surveys
Getting paid for answering a few questions doesn’t sound bad, does it? On sites like Swagbucks or Branded Surveys this is possible. Spoiler: The sums you get there are not exactly the best. If you’re lucky, you’ll get €2 for a 30-minute survey. That corresponds to an hourly wage of 4€. So they’re only really worth it if you’re very bored.
8. sell your unused internet connection
You can earn money passively with apps like Honeygain. If you sell about 5gb of data a day on 2 devices, you can make up to 45$ a month (in the best case, with a great internet connection). My personal experience was 9 € after 10 months, but it depends on different factors. Alternative apps are Embee Meter CX, Nielsen Mobile & Computer Panel, MobileXpression or Pawns.app
9. sell your GPS data to companies
With apps like Tapestri, you can sell your GPS data to companies in your area so that they can place more targeted advertising for you. This can earn you around €25 per month.
10. become a proofreader (as a freelancing activity)
Proofreaders are people who read a text and check it for errors before it is published. Proofreaders should find grammar and spelling mistakes, eliminate logical errors and generally render the text from a reader’s perspective and say where there can be improvements.
11. Build social media channels for companies
Through services such as Facebook ads, Instagram account growth and, for example, YouTube SEO, you can charge €1000-2000 per month per customer. Also often associated with an SMMA.
12. become a virtual assistant
“Online assistant” is a broad term: it covers many services from graphic design to e-mail marketing. You can become a virtual assistant by 1. becoming a freelancer or 2. working for a company that specializes in virtual assistants.
13. transcribe audio files
Here it is your job to listen to given audio files and write down the text that is discussed in them. This service is mainly used in medicine, law or in general. Example: FlexJobs
14. Teach your primary language online
You can give private lessons or take an online course. Whatever it is, your requirements are 1. good explanation skills and 2. English to communicate with people
15. investments
Investments are not only normal share trading, but now also trading in cryptocurrencies, commodities (such as gold), art, collectibles, real estate, ETFs, funds,…
16. buy and sell domain names
Every website needs a domain name to be accessible online. If a business wants to make their website accessible online, but you have the domain name they want, they have to buy the domain name from you. This means you can make a tidy profit by selling and buying popular domain names.
17. Become a private teacher
You can put your teaching skills to the test on websites such as Outschool or VIPKid. Here you can teach children between the ages of 3 and 18. On other sites like Wyzant you can teach people of all ages.
18. test company websites
As a website tester, you provide the website creators with feedback on how mature the functionality and design of the website is. With your help, they want to make the websites even better. A good website is “user testing”. However, you should know that you will only be paid well if your expertise brings a certain added value to the creators of the website. It’s no use to a web designer if the answer is: “Yeah, it’s cool”
19. buy and sell things on online markets
If you find good offers on Facebook, you can easily buy them and then sell them again for a profit. It works especially well for collectibles, antiques, clothing, …. Keep an eye out on sites like Ebay, Facebook, Etsy,… for good products that are being sold below their market value.
20. Become a ghostwriter for blogs and companies
Write articles and posts for companies.
21. complete small jobs
Test a game and play it for 30 minutes, visit websites and test things out, watch videos, use the integrated search engine. These are some of the microtasks you can do on Swagbucks to earn some extra money. However, these salaries are rather small
22. Sell homemade products on Etsy
You like to craft, sew or create products by hand in your free time. Then Etsy is the perfect place to sell your things.
23. Work as a matchmaker
Finding the perfect love is everyone’s dream and you can now help people do it and get paid at the same time! On Tawkify you can work as an expert and match people with each other in the hope of finding the love of your life
24. develop your own app
Do you love computer science and have always wanted to tackle your own project? Or you have an idea but no real programming experience? Neither is too bad. If you just have an idea but are not really interested in computer science, then the following 2 options are for you: 1. you look for an expert on Fiverr who you pay to create an app for you or 2. you use a no-coding platform like Build Fire to turn your idea into reality.
25. start a paid community
Attention: Until you have real added value to offer, you should not consider this point!
But if you really are an expert in a certain field, be it fitness, weight loss or even business, then you can set up a paid community on blogging sites like WordPress. These pay monthly fees in exchange for exclusive content such as blog posts, videos, PDFs, newsletters,…
26. sell your photos
Do you love taking pictures with your camera or cell phone? Then sell them on websites like Adobe Stock and Shutterstock and get a commission for every sale.
Of course, you have to make sure that your pictures are high-resolution and of good quality overall. It is very difficult to take such high quality pictures with your cell phone, you will have more success with a professional camera
27. Create and publish an eBook
Are you an expert in a highly sought-after subject area or even just in a very niche topic? If you can add writing to your skill set, then you can create your own eBook. Write about your topic with facts and tips that can really help your readership. You can publish your book on Amazon using the Kindle Direct Publishing function. To do this, upload your formatted eBook to the site for free, enter the details and you’re ready to go.
28. Sell other digital products
Not only books and courses are possible, but also other products such as informative PDFs, workbooks, templates for various things (e.g. Excel or Notion templates) and many more.
29. print on demand
Thanks to websites like Teespring and Printify, it is now easier than ever to design your own fashion. Whether it’s T-shirts, hoodies, backpacks or baseball caps, you can design everything yourself. All you have to do is upload your design and the producer usually takes care of the purchase and shipping. As a result, the commission is rather low, but it can serve as passive income.
30. Work remotely in a call center
Large companies such as Apple, American Express and Sixt are looking for part-time or full-time call center agents. After you have completed the company’s online training, you can start working straight away. However, the pay is not the best, so don’t hope to become financially free.
31. Become a consultant in your field of expertise
As you can see, there are many ways to earn money online as an expert in a certain field. Similar to teaching others in a field, you can also assist others as a consultant in certain areas. For example, you can support companies in the field of social media with your knowledge. With tools such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams, you can hold online meetings with your clients and advise them without having to meet them in person.
32. Investing in real estate
We don’t want to draw your attention to the typical real estate investments where you have to buy your own property, instead we want to show you good opportunities to invest in real estate with small sums of money. Fundrise is a provider where you can invest in real estate with at least $10. The money is pooled from many investors and finally, when the capital for the purchase has been reached, the property is bought. However, the website is rated 2/5 stars on Trustpilot.com.
33. Listen to music
With the Current app, you can earn money while listening to a radio station on the app. According to the app itself, up to 600$ per year. But to be honest, this is most likely very exaggerated and anything but true. A realistic figure is 30 to 60$ per year.
34. pass on payment information
With Pogo, you earn pennies every time you share information about your online purchases. The normal cash value you get back is $0.02 to $0.05 per transaction. However, this process is completely passive.
35. Neighbor
With this app, you can rent out your storage space to people in the area. If you have a lot of space somewhere, for example if you have a garage that is empty, you can rent this space to other people who can store their things there
36. play games
Making money by playing games? Is that really possible? Actually yes! Through apps like Mistplay you can play games and after a certain time, or when you have achieved something specific, you get points which you can exchange for money.
37. Making music
If you are an enthusiastic music producer, you can upload your music online to Spotify or Soundcloud. If your music is well received, you could become very famous. You can use software such as Fl Studio.
38. cashback
Not really a side hustle, but you can still get money back with apps like Fetch Rewards, Upside or honey. So at least you pay less than usual :).
